A 6-in-1 BBQ? Is this even possible?
When looking for a BBQ there are always constraints and multiple factors to consider.
- Is gas the best option?
- What is the added cost of getting compliance with all the gas regulations?
- Is there an electric BBQ option that will work?
- Do you prefer smoking & slow cooking meats?
- Do you need a pizza oven?
- How much room do you have for the BBQ area?
- Is it a renovation of existing or building a new outdoor kitchen?
- How many people are you typically cooking for?
- Are you interested in exploring different cooking techniques?
- Is healthy cooking important to you?
- And much more…
Researching & Comparing

One of the important factors is your Budget. When considering all these factors, value for money comes into play. I want to have everything as I like all these different types of cooking – (who doesn’t love wood fired pizzas? Personally, I’d rather buy them as they are such a lot of work!) – but my budget and space doesn’t quite go that far.
So, it’s time to compare, evaluate & prioritise. There is no right or wrong in this process its simply to get the best possible outcome for your particular needs.
If pizzas are your thing – go for it! There are many options to suit most budgets in this space.
If smoking & slow-cooked roasts float your boat that’s easy with a wood pellet grill like Traeger® but there are many other options including kettle style charcoal cookers like Kamado Joe®.
Charcoal cooking is popular with hibachi grills, Weber, spits and much more
If you love experimenting with different foods and cooking techniques finding a BBQ that has multiple cooking options may be best?
What about a 6-in-1 BBQ? Is there such a BBQ?
Many BBQ shops will point you in the direction of all the add-on accessories to a standard BBQ to make up extra cooking options.
What if someone could show you 1 BBQ that successfully does as many as 6 different types of cooking with just 1 accessory?
- Want to make a stir fry in a wok? No problem
- Sauté some veggies? Easy
- Steam fish? Poach eggs? Just add a cloche
- Cook up an Aussie BBQ breakfast, sausages, chops, bacon, eggs, tomato – gotta love that!
- Sear & Grill that perfect Porterhouse steak or scotch fillet? Amazing flavour!
- Japanese style teppanyaki grill? Perfect!
- Burgers anyone?
- And don’t forget the pancakes!
So what is this BBQ?
Its called the UltraDine® Teppanyaki Plus BBQ Grill
And how does it do all this?
Well, it’s pretty simple really. Ever seen a 4mm thick stainless steel plate dip downwards and form a bowl when heat is applied?
No?
Neither had I until I saw these. And when it cools again after cooking is finished, this 4mm thick stainless steel BBQ plate returns to being flat again.
Amazing & awesome & all sorts of other words, just, you know, Great (Again? No, it’s great already!)
So this shallow dip effect – it’s called ThermoFlex® – creates the cooking area where all these techniques can be used – Wok, Steamer, BBQ, Grill, Frypan, Teppanyaki – all on the 1 BBQ grill. ThermoFlex® is unique to the UltraDine range of Teppanyaki Plus BBQ grills.
Now for the (boring) technical stuff.
These grills are made from hand finished 304 stainless steel. The cooking plate is 4mm thick
Heating source is an electric element running off 240 volt with max current draw of 10 amps meaning it can plug straight into a standard household 3 pin power point. Some models can be upgraded to a 2.5 or 3kW element if required – you just need a 15 amp circuit run to power them up.
The cooking temperature is thermostat controlled & adjustable running from 65°C up to a max surface temperature of 230°C – plenty enough to sear your steaks! For the eco-conscious (that’s all of us!) the exceptionally efficient element consumes approx. 1kW/h per meal. Climate neutral cooking is achievable if you are using solar panels. Low energy consumption without compromising performance.
Oh and I guess I should mention its designed and made in Germany, of course. I mean where else would you get such awesome technology with stunningly sleek looks?
More boring stuff about shapes & sizes

More good stuff – it’s easy to clean!
Who likes cleaning BBQ’s?
Nobody I know!
Well, the good news is the stainless steel cooktop is incredibly easy to clean using water & a microfiber cloth or paper towel while it is still warm.
If for any reason the stainless steel surface discolours from cooking – marinades can sometimes cause this – there is a polish available in the UltraDine Cleaning Kit that will magically (almost) transform your Teppanyaki BBQ plate back to its original shine
I want one – where can I buy?
Really great question!
